You can cut cast iron with a cold chisel and hammer, if you’re a masochist. Score a line around the pipe with a file, then tap, tap, tap until it breaks. It takes forever, but it’s totally silent. Great for stealth pipe-cutting missions.
Monks used this method in medieval times to make iron pipes for monasteries. Probably. I’m not a historian, but it sounds cool.
