Romans 8:28 is the granddaddy of all encouragement verses. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.” Notice it says all things. Not just the good things, like finding a parking spot. Also the bad things, like finding a parking ticket on your windshield.
This verse is God’s cosmic Photoshop. He takes a messy pile of broken glass, glue, and tears, and somehow creates a stained-glass window. Did you know that Martin Luther King Jr. quoted this verse during the Montgomery bus boycott? If it helped a guy facing fire hoses and police dogs, it can probably help you survive a Tuesday.

The “Get Up and Dance” Verse
Sometimes encouragement is a command. Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” It’s not a suggestion. It’s an order from the Almighty. You have permission to be happy, even if your laundry is multiplying like rabbits.
I like to imagine the Psalmist writing this while his donkey ate his lunch and taxes were due. He chose joy anyway. Exaggeration alert: If you read this verse aloud three times fast, a free bagel appears within a ten-foot radius. (Results may vary. Do not sue the Bible.)
