Dance Base also produces shows. Real, professional performances. We’re talking contemporary dance that’ll make you gasp. And sometimes, it’s a one-hour piece about the history of sandwiches. Yes, that happened.
They also host “Dancing in the Streets” every summer. They close the Grassmarket and fill it with flash mobs, samba parades, and confused tourists joining in. It’s a riot of colour and clapping.
The weirdest class name ever
They once ran a workshop called “Bounce, Roll, and Wobble.” It was exactly what it sounds like. Participants bounced on giant balls, rolled on mats, and wobbled like inflatable tubes. No judgment. Just giggles.
Dance Base - Touch
If you’re not curious about a class called “Angry Improv,” are you even alive? (Spoiler: it involves stomping and pretending to break things with your fists.)
