First, check the official app or website of your local train operator around December 30. They usually post holiday schedules a week in advance. Second, add an extra 30 minutes to your travel time. You’re on holiday time—embrace the slower pace. Third, bring snacks. A granola bar and a thermos of hot chocolate can turn a delayed train into a cozy little adventure.
Remember how you felt last year when almost everything was closed and you had to walk six blocks to find a coffee shop? Trains are the opposite. They show up, they take you where you need to go, and they don’t judge you for wearing last night’s party glitter on your cheeks.
One Last Thought
New Year’s Day is a reset button for the whole planet. The trains running on that day aren’t just machines—they’re connections to people, places, and possibilities. So whether you’re heading to a friend’s house, a quiet hike, or simply a bookstore, the train will carry you there. Just check the schedule, pack your patience, and wear comfortable shoes. And if you see someone standing on the platform looking lost? Buy them a coffee. It’s the perfect way to start a brand new year.
Now go enjoy that leftover cheesecake. You’ve earned it.
