Take the hint. Put the envelope down. Step away from the sticky tape. Enjoy the bank holiday. Eat an egg. The mail will still be there on Saturday, I promise. Royal Mail knows how to hold a grudge – it won’t let your letter go to waste. It’ll just wait, all smug, until the next working day.
Now, Easter Monday? That’s a whole other story. (Spoiler: also a no-go. Basically, if it’s a bank holiday, assume your post is on strike solidarity with your laziness.)
Does Royal Mail deliver on Good Friday? What to expect in 2026
Honestly, the real question is: why are we so obsessed with the mail on a day when everyone is supposed to be eating chocolate and reflecting on life? Is it the anxiety of a late parcel? The fear of a missed bill? Or is it just the British need to know exactly when we can get our hands on a stamp?
Here’s the bottom line: Royal Mail does not work on Good Friday. No ifs, ands, or buns. But you know what does work? Your patience, a good cup of tea, and the knowledge that Tuesday will come soon enough. And then, oh boy, the postie will be back, grumbling about the backlog. It’s the circle of life, really.
So go on. Forget the mail. Lick a chocolate instead. Your letter can wait. And if it can’t? Well, that’s what email was invented for. Or, you know, a carrier pigeon. But check the bank holiday schedule for pigeons first. You never know.
