You see, flies don’t hate the smell of vinegar. In fact, they’re oddly attracted to it. That sharp, fermented aroma mimics the scent of rotting fruit or garbage, which is basically a five-star Yelp review for a fly.
So if you’re spraying vinegar around your trash can, you’re essentially hanging a neon sign that says, “Dinner is served!” This is why my initial attempt failed so spectacularly.
But here’s where the twist comes in: vinegar can trap flies. Not repel them—capture them. It’s a Trojan horse, not a shield.
