Birds love Don Juan as much as you do. They’re the paparazzi of the fruit world. Use netting, or accept that you’re running a free bird café.
Cherry fruit fly is a scoundrel. Hang yellow sticky traps or use a spinosad spray. It’s organic, because we’re fancy like that.
Also, watch for brown rot in damp summers. If you see mummified fruit, remove it fast. That’s the tree saying, “Ew, I’m moldy.” Don’t let it spread.

Fertilizing: The Snack Menu
Feed your Don Juan a balanced 10-10-10 fertilizer in early spring, before new growth. Don’t overdo it—this isn’t a competitive eating contest. Too much nitrogen and you’ll get leafy monsters with zero cherries. That’s like a wedding with no cake.
Mulch with wood chips or straw to keep roots cool and moist. Just don’t pile it against the trunk. Trees don’t like turtlenecks.
