If you work at a computer all day, your employer might already offer free eye tests. Yes, really. Many companies in the UK, for example, are legally required to pay for an eye test if you use a screen regularly. It’s not a perk—it’s the law in some cases. So ask your HR person, or just casually mention it at lunch: “Hey, do we get free eye tests?” You might be surprised.
Also, if you’re over 60 or under 16, the NHS in the UK covers your test. In the US, Medicare Part B covers an annual eye exam for some folks with diabetes or high risk. It’s worth the ten-minute phone call to check your benefits—trust me, your future self will thank you when you can read the bus number without squinting.
