A sunflower head isn’t one big flower. It’s thousands of tiny flowers called florets. Each floret, if pollinated, turns into a seed. The spiral pattern they grow in is called the Golden Ratio – it’s math you can eat.
Fun fact: the seeds are arranged in two sets of spirals, one clockwise and one counterclockwise. The number of spirals almost always equals two consecutive Fibonacci numbers. Don’t worry about the math part, but do admire how nature packed them in like a puzzle.
