The distance from Sarasota to Tampa is 60 miles, and in a perfect world, it’s an hour. In our world, it’s “anywhere from 55 minutes to the rest of your life.” I’ve done the drive dozens of times, and I still get that little knot in my stomach when I see the “Tampa 42 miles” sign.
But honestly? It’s worth it. Tampa has the best food, the nightlife, and the airport that actually goes places. Sarasota has the beaches and the quiet. They’re two lovers in a long-distance relationship, and you’re the car that keeps them together.
So go ahead, fill up your tank, put on your favorite playlist, and remember: it’s not far—until it is. And when it is, just laugh. At least you’re not driving to Miami. (That’s a whole other level of insanity.)
