You have choices, like a good coffee menu. Let’s break them down.
Nonstop is the gold standard. Alaska Airlines does this route a bunch. So does Delta. It’s two hours of bliss. You get in, grab a snack, and you’re in Sacramento before you can say “I miss the rain.”
But sometimes a direct flight isn’t available, or it’s pricey. Then you look at connecting flights. A one-stop flight might take 4 to 6 hours. That’s a whole afternoon, man.
Connecting through Portland or San Francisco? You land, wait an hour, then fly another 45 minutes. It’s like a bonus layover you didn’t sign up for. Only do this if the price is drastically lower. Or if you love airport pretzels.
The Red-Eye? (Don’t Do It)
Sometimes you see a late-night flight. Like, leaving at 11 PM. It’s still about two hours, but you land at 1 AM. In Sacramento.
Yeah, that’s a ghost town vibe. You save money, but you lose sleep. And your soul, maybe. Not recommended unless you’re a vampire or a travel masochist.
