Forget counting ounces. Drink when you’re thirsty, and a bit more before exercise. If you want a rule of thumb: take your weight in pounds, divide by two, and aim for that number in ounces as a maximum from water alone. But add 12-16 ounces for every hour of moderate exercise. See? Simple.
And here’s my ironic final thought: our ancestors survived with water from streams and rain. Now we have smart bottles that light up to remind us to sip. I love technology, but your body has a built-in hydrometer. Use it. Trust it. And if you ever feel the urge to do a “water challenge” like Dave, just call me first. I’ll talk you into having a Gatorade with a side of common sense instead.
Stay curious, stay hydrated—but for crying out loud, stay sane about it.
