Ceiling fans are magical, but only if you set them counterclockwise in summer. Look up at your fan. Is it spinning the wrong way? Switch it. A clockwise spin pushes warm air down—great for winter, terrible for now. Counterclockwise creates a wind-chill effect. It makes your skin feel cooler even if the room is still 90°F.

Fun fact: ceiling fans cool people, not rooms. They don’t actually lower the temperature. They just make you feel like you’re in a gentle hurricane. So don’t leave them on in empty rooms. Mother Earth is already sweating, don’t make it worse.
And never stand directly under a ceiling fan if you have a bald head. It feels like a tiny helicopter landing on your scalp. Very distracting during a nap.
Cook Outside, You Maniac
Stop using your oven. Seriously. It’s like lighting a bonfire in your living room. The oven can turn your kitchen into Death Valley with a microwave. Use a slow cooker, an air fryer, or—gasp—the grill outside.
If you must boil water, cover the pot with a lid. Every uncovered bubble releases steam and heat. That steam is now your enemy. It clings to your walls and makes you feel like a steamed dumpling. Not a good look.
For bonus points, eat cold meals for a week. Salads, sandwiches, and ice cream for dinner. The laws of adulthood say you can do that. No one will arrest you. I promise.
