This is where the magic happens. You want three feathers (turkey or synthetic, your call). Set your fletching jig to a slight angle—this gives the arrow spin for stability. Apply a thin line of glue to the base of the feather, press it onto the shaft, and hold for ten seconds. Do all three feathers as evenly spaced as possible. I use a little marker to guide me: one feather at 12 o’clock, others at 4 and 8 o’clock. It’s like a weird clock that wants to murder things.
Let the glue cure for at least an hour. Use this time to stretch, drink coffee, or check your phone for the thousandth time. Nothing.
