Flies are the worst houseguests. They don’t bring wine, they don’t know when to leave, and they love your garbage. But you don’t have to live like this. We can outsmart them, my friend.
First thing’s first: calm down. That fly sees you coming from a mile away. It’s got compound eyes, for crying out loud. You’re not sneaking up on it with a spatula.
The Old-School Trap
Remember vinegar and dish soap? It’s not just for salad dressing and dishes. Fill a small bowl with apple cider vinegar, add a drop of dish soap, and put it near the fly’s favorite hangout (usually near a window or the fruit bowl). The vinegar lures them in, the soap breaks the surface tension, and splash—they’re gone. It’s morbid, but it works.
You can also try a wine trap. If you have a cheap, half-empty bottle of red that you regret buying, leave it out with the neck open. Flies love fermented things. They’ll crawl in and forget the way out. That’s on them, not you.
