Of course, if you’re reading this from your sofa in your pyjamas (no judgment), you might be wondering about online delivery. Pets at Home does offer delivery on Bank Holidays, but it’s a bit of a lottery. While their website stays open for orders 24/7, the actual delivery couriers might be taking a long weekend. So, don’t rely on next-day delivery if you order on the Friday before the holiday. You’ll probably get it on Tuesday, and by then, your cat might have staged a small rebellion.
I ended up ordering online once for a Bank Holiday, telling myself I was being clever. The parcel arrived on the Wednesday, looking like it had been kicked down a flight of stairs. The bag of treats inside? Miraculously intact. But the suspense nearly killed me. Moral of the story: the in-store option is usually safer if you need it right now.

Ironies of the Pet Parent Life
Isn’t it funny how we spend all year planning for our own Bank Holiday weekends—BBQs, lie-ins, and Netflix binges—but forget to plan for our pets? My cat doesn’t care about the Queen’s official birthday or a day off work. He cares about his 5 PM dinner and his crunchy treats. And when those needs aren’t met, the chaos is legendary. Trust me, I’ve seen a knock-off Almond Joy wrapper get shredded into a thousand pieces because of a missed tuna snack.
So, here’s my final, hard-won wisdom: check the store locator on the website, aim to visit in the morning (before the 4 PM close), and never assume the grooming salon is open. If you do that, you’ll be the hero of your household. And if all else fails? Buy extra kibble on Saturday. Sir Fluffington will thank you—with slow blinks, not death glares.
Now, go forth and stock up. Your pet’s dignity (and your carpet) depends on it.
