Naturally, Twitter is a tornado of chaos. One user posts a photo of a billowing cloud of smoke and captions it, “FINAL BOSS BATTLE IN READING”. Another one, clearly a local, tweets: “That’s just Barry trying to barbecue again.” I love the internet. It’s the only place where a massive fire can compete with memes about a dog wearing a wig for attention.
Let’s get one thing straight: this is not a small fire. We’re talking flames that are visible from space, or at least from the M4 motorway, where traffic is now a permanent parking lot. Some commuter is probably sitting in their car, updating their status: “Stuck in traffic. Fire to the left. Regretting my life choices to the right.”
And yes, of course, there’s that one person live-streaming the whole thing. “Hey guys, welcome to my channel! Today, we’re going to see if fire trucks can drift!” Spoiler: they can’t. They’re very professional, unlike the guy trying to get a better angle while wearing crocs.
What’s Actually Burning? (Spoiler: Not a Pancake Flipping Contest)
Rumors are flying faster than the flames. Some say it’s an abandoned warehouse. Others say it’s a giant pile of rubber ducks that spontaneously combusted from sheer happiness. The real answer, as per official updates, is a large industrial building near the town centre. But let’s be honest—a warehouse full of novelty T-shirts is way funnier in my head.

Here’s a surprising fact: fires like this produce enough heat to melt steel, but apparently, not enough to melt the stubbornness of the guy who tries to save his lawn chair. I saw a clip of a man running out of a building clutching a kettle. “Priorities,” he said, out of breath. I salute you, sir. You’ve earned your tea-drinking badge today.
