Here’s a bizarre twist you probably didn’t expect: the original, actual couch from the family room has been recovered. It was found in a storage unit in Burbank, stained with 20-year-old soda and what the prop master calls “the DNA of three child actors.” The producers are keeping it as a “practical effects piece,” meaning it will still break whenever someone sits on it too hard. That’s commitment to continuity.
"We Leave It On A Great Note": Frankie Muniz Shares New Malcolm In The
Another wild fact? The new next-door neighbor is played by Bowen Yang, and his character is a “cryptocurrency bro who lives in a van down by the river.” He’s trying to sell Malcolm NFTs of his own baby pictures. Yes, you read that right—this show is already too online, and it hasn’t even started filming yet.
What About the Original Cast? (Spoiler: Frankie is Fine)
Don’t worry, Frankie Muniz isn’t bitter. In fact, he’s an executive producer and has reportedly told the new cast, “Just try to keep up. I still can’t remember a single line from season five.” Bryan Cranston (Hal) sent a video message to the new crew, saying, “Remember, if you ever feel overwhelmed, just shove your head in a toilet. It worked for me.” He was probably joking. Probably.
Jane Kaczmarek (Lois) gave her blessing but demanded that the new mom scream exactly as loud as she did. The new actress, Kylie Verzosa, replied: “I’ve been practicing on my own kids. They flinch when I whisper.” We have no evidence she has kids, but we’re going with it.
