Forget the old puff-of-air test you thought was a medieval torture device. Specsavers Leith uses a digital scanner that’s quicker than your Uber Eats order. It takes a picture of the back of your eye and checks for health issues like glaucoma or diabetes. Freaky? A little. Useful? Absolutely.
You even get a printout of your eyeball photo. I stuck mine on the fridge and told visitors it was a ‘space panorama’. They believed me. Your eyes are now art. You’re welcome.

If you’ve got mobility concerns, don’t worry. The Leith branch is on the ground floor, with wide aisles and a ramp. It’s as easy to navigate as a well-poured pint of 80 bob. Even my gran, who uses a zimmer frame, managed to try on a pair of rose-gold frames without knocking over a display stand. She called it “a triumph.” I call it Specsavers Leith magic.
