This game will be played on FieldTurf, not natural grass, which is rare for Brazilian stadiums. Why? The NFL insisted on it for player safety—so expect fewer slips and more speed from Travis Kelce.
NFL São Paulo Game Preview: Chiefs, Chargers Clash in Brazil to Open
Brazil’s football (soccer) culture runs deep, so the Chiefs will be walking on a pitch usually graced by Corinthians, one of the country’s most passionate clubs. In fact, Corinthians fans are known for the “Fiel” (the faithful) chant, which might just echo during commercial breaks.
Also, the game’s official time is listed as 20:15 BRT—so if you see that on your calendar, don’t panic. Just add three hours for a quick mental math check and you’re golden.
The Real Question: Is It Worth the Hype?
Absolutely. This isn’t just a game—it’s a cultural bridge between American football and a country that lives and breathes competition. Watching the Chiefs in Brazil means you’re witnessing the NFL’s global ambition, one touchdown at a time.
And let’s be honest: seeing Mahomes throw a no-look pass under the lights of São Paulo, with samba drums in the background, is the kind of moment that makes you forget about your 9 AM meeting the next day. It’s a vacation for your calendar—a Friday night that feels like a Saturday morning.
So, what time do the Chiefs play? 7:15 PM Eastern, 4:15 PM Pacific, 8:15 PM in Brazil. Mark it down, pour yourself a caipirinha (or a cold beer), and get ready for a game that’s as much about the destination as the sport itself. Because sometimes, the best plays happen off the field.
