As the clock ticks towards that magic number, your heart rate picks up. It’s the same feeling you get when you’re waiting for the microwave to finish, except this time it’s for national pride. The stakes are slightly higher than a hot pocket.
You’ll hear the crowd roar from the TV, even before the game starts. It’s a primal sound that triggers a Pavlovian response in every football fan: “Time to drop everything and stare at a screen.”
At 8:00 PM (or 3:00 PM on the East Coast), the world stops. Your phone goes on silent. Your dog gets ignored. The laundry can wait until Monday. This is the moment you’ve been waiting for all weekend.
So, mark your calendars, set your alarms, and inform your significant other that you’ll be emotionally unavailable for exactly 90 minutes (plus stoppage time, which is always a lie). The Euro final on Sunday is happening, and you now know exactly when to plant yourself on the couch.
Now, go forth, hydrate (with whatever you please), and prepare for the beautiful chaos. And for goodness’ sake, don’t be late. The kick-off waits for no one.
