According to the good folks at the Met Office—who definitely don’t wear tinsel on their thermometers—the last widespread white Christmas in the UK was way back in 2010. I know, right? That feels like a lifetime ago, before TikTok and when we all still thought “survey says!” was funny.
But hold your tinsel! The definition of a “white Christmas” is stricter than your nan’s gravy recipe. The Met says it counts if just one single snowflake is observed falling anywhere in the UK on December 25th. One flake! That’s it.
So technically, we’ve had “white Christmases” since 2010, but they were like that one lonely sprout on the plate—technically there, but nobody’s excited about it. In 2026, for example, a few places in Scotland saw a flutter, but for most of England? Nada. Just soggy dreams.
