The ancient Egyptians were some of the first people to really get into bread-making. They even had special bread-makers who were responsible for creating all sorts of different loaves for the pharaohs and other important folks. And, fun fact, they used to use emmer wheat, which is still used today to make some types of artisan bread.
The Greeks and Romans also loved their bread, and they even had special bread shops where you could buy all sorts of freshly baked loaves. They used to make bread with all sorts of ingredients, like olives, herbs, and even honey. Yum!
