The star of the film is undeniably Rosehill Cottage, Iris’s cozy stone home. But here’s the first surprise: it isn’t a real, lived-in house. The exterior was a set built from scratch on a private estate in the village of Shere, Surrey.
You can find the exact spot at Guldeford Farm, but the cottage itself was dismantled after filming. The owners keep the land private, so don’t expect to knock on the front door. Instead, visit Shere itself—the village doubles as the fictional town of Standen in the movie.
Walk in Iris’s Footsteps
The village of Shere is a dream. You’ll recognize the winding street where Iris walks her dog, the quaint post office, and the King William IV pub. That pub is the very one where Iris has her emotional phone calls with Arthur.
Pop inside for a pint and a plate of fish and chips. The locals are used to fans taking photos, so don’t be shy. Just remember: the famous red phone box is still there, too—perfect for a quick selfie.
