Look under the sink. You’ll see two small metal or plastic knobs. One is for hot water, one for cold. They’re attached to the pipes that go up to your faucet.
These little guys are called shut-off valves. They look like tiny faucets for your faucet. Cute, right? Don’t be fooled by their size—they’re powerful.
If you can’t find them, shine a flashlight. They’re usually right where the pipe meets the wall or the floor. If still nothing? You might have an old house with no local shut-offs. We’ll get to that nightmare in a minute.
